The Mission of Discovery Safaris is to share the life-changing experience of traveling to a distant land, touching another culture very different from our own, and discovering in the process...that we have come home.

Discovery Safaris is the travel program of Godparents for Tanzania and provides the opportunity to learn to know people who live lives very different from our own, particularly in terms of material resources. In many respects, the hardships they face give a depth to their faith and spiritual lives from which we can learn a great deal. They welcome us to share what little they have with a spirit of hospitality that is unfamiliar to most of us, and is simply astonishing to those open to receiving it. Never will you feel so welcomed as you will among our friends in Tanzania. To travel to Tanzania is like coming home to family.
There is also the opportunity to respond to what we are given in Tanzania. One way in which we try to do so is by asking each traveler to relinquish one of his/her two pieces of 50lb checked luggage. Substituted for this checked piece of luggage will be supplies much needed in hospitals and schools. The mission of Discovery Safaris is both to receive and to give.
